BDS Sponsorship Appointed As Official Sponsorship Agency For PSA Men’s World Squash Championship 2013
BDS Sponsorship has been appointed as the official sponsorship agency for the PSA Men’s World Squash Championship 2013 that is to be held in Manchester from 26th October to 3rd November.
A sponsorship strategy has recently been completed along with a business plan for the championship and BDS are now undertaking sponsorship sales for the event.
BDS Sponsorship has extensive experience in sponsorship dating back to the early days of the industry and are now one of the leading sponsorship consultancies in the UK, acting for both rights holders and sponsors.
The PSA Men’s World Squash Championship 2013 will involve the world’s top 112 players, including players from all 5 continents and presents an extremely exciting opportunity for world squash to position itself as the worlds “number one sport for getting and staying fit”. 2013 also brings an additional opportunity as squash is in the running to become an Olympic sport in 2020.
Chief Executive of BDS Sponsorship, Richard Busby, says that “The PSA Men’s World Squash Championship 2013 will be a fantastic event for all concerned, with some exciting opportunities from a sponsor’s point of view…. We look forward to working with the key stakeholders over the coming months.”
Nick Rider from England Squash & Racketball said, “The Event Partners looking forward to working with BDS Sponsorship to find partners to help us to ensure this year’s World Championship is bigger and better than ever. We’re hoping squash is selected as an Olympic sport for 2020 too – this is set to be a great year!”
BDS Sponsorship are not only looking to sell the naming rights for the event but are also seeking event partners and secondary level sponsors, all of which will provide significant brand exposure with unique “Money Can’t Buy” opportunities. The event partners, Manchester City Council, England Squash & Racketball and UK Sport, are currently securing significant TV coverage that will enable people from around the world to enjoy the main event in this squash year.
Anyone wishing to enquire about sponsorship of the PSA Men’s World Squash Championship 2013 should contact Simon Thomlinson (sthomlinson.bds@sponsorship.co.uk) on 0207 689 3333 for more information.

PSA Men’s World Squash Championship: 26th October to 3rd November 2013. This will be the second time Manchester has played host to the event; the first being during the World Sport 2008 series of events that were a legacy from the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
The heat stage of the event will be held at the National Squash Centre, Sport City with the final weekend at Manchester Central. Tickets will go on sale on 31st March 2013.
Manchester continues to strengthen its impressive reputation for attracting major international sports championships. In 2012, the City was named 5th in the Ultimate Sports City List, and No.1 city with a population of under one million. In 2013 Manchester will host several major sports events, including the Men’s World Squash Championship, the Rugby League World Cup Final, NBA Europe Live and the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. These events raise the city’s global sporting profile, whilst bringing long-term social and economic benefits to Manchester and its residents. The City’s excellent range of accessible sports venues and facilities, combined with its school and community sports development programmes, provide the springboard for Manchester’s sporting stars of the future.

UK Sport
UK Sport’s Gold Event Series distributes approximately £5 million of Lottery funding each year to support the bidding and staging costs of major events on home soil, as well as providing specialist support to organisers. Events are supported for their likely performance impact, but also to maximise the wider sporting, social, cultural, economic and environmental benefits.
The Gold Event Series will aim to bring over 70 of the world’s most prestigious sporting events to the UK, including 36 World and European Championships. This ambitious programme will support British athletes’ preparation and qualification for Rio 2016, while generating approximately £287 million of additional expenditure in host cities and regions and bringing over 250,000 overseas visitors to the UK. Events already secured include 2017 World Athletics Championships and 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. More @ www.uksport.gov.uk/events
Having previously completed a unique sponsorship strategy based on securing two high profile naming rights sponsorships for one venue (along with four preferred partners, as secondary level sponsors) and securing sponsors including Liverpool Echo, BT, E.On, Pepsi and Coors (and thereby generating an income that is 300% higher than any comparable venue in the UK) BDS are thrilled to be working with ACC Liverpool again.
A new £40 million Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL) is planned for the site and BDS Sponsorship are completing a sponsorship audit and consultancy report that encompasses identifying new opportunities across the whole site and an audit of the existing opportunities.
BDS are delighted to be working on the Men’s World Squash Championship which will be held in Manchester from the 27th October to 3rd November 2013. BDS, following their appointment from Sport England, Manchester City Council and England Squash & Racketball, are completing a sports sponsorship strategy and business plan for the event which will attract the best 112 players in the world.
Squash provides a compelling and unique opportunity for sponsors as squash attracts the best demographic in mainstream sport; players and fans are business leaders, affluent and well educated.
Of the 1.5 million people playing squash in the UK every year, an estimated 525,000 (35%) of them fall into the “Symbols of Success” Mosaic Group. This very attractive yet hard to reach group represents the wealthiest 10% of people in the UK, set in their careers and with substantial equity and net worth.
The team at BDS Sponsorship wish you a very Happy New Year and hope that 2013 will be a productive and rewarding year.
Working for one of the leading sponsorship agencies has its perks and this was yet another example. BDS Sponsorship are currently working with The University of Birmingham; one of the top 3 universities for sport in the country and who are building a new state of the art £55 million sports centre that will open in 2015.
Luckily for BDS the University’s sporting excellence was demonstrated by the Jamaican Track and Field Olympic Team holding their pre-London 2012 Olympic training camp at the University’s world class facilities. The University and BDS hosted a number of senior potential sponsors at a VIP drinks reception followed by dinner with the Jamaican Team. We then watched them train the next day.
